thank you! Question: my aquarium is fully of bioload, he was doing great until yesterday! I added 50 small hermit crabs • for a sudden growth of brown algae around the tank, this morning some corals were looking with white spots and stressed. This is not the first time after adding a new organism, that's why I don't like to add any other animal to my tank but some people recommend me add more hermit and was only a cleaning crew. I did a water change 50% like I always do when this issue happens, 1 shot of nitrifying bacteria and activated carbon. Any comments regarding this issue?
Adding more hermit crab won't change this. Keep your nitrate and phosphate at a steady level and with times a balance will form but you most keep maintening your tank, clean it when you can. For example, I don't let the algae grow on glass too long, it take my phosphate which is needed for the coral, and I do my best to keep the phosphate a steady level, manually. White spot on coral could indicate some infection but leather for example will get the upper hand generally speaking with time. you can add bacteria, but before adding, you most know what is inside, make search verification on internet if the bacteria in the bottle are good. Avoid companies who hide their stuff.

Strangely enough, my Citron Clown Goby has shown zero interest in the seriatopora and anacropora in my nano, knock on wood. He likes to perch on the cyphastrea, under my torch and sometimes in my zoas and scoly but I’ve never seen him in the branching coral. Hoping I got lucky and his behavior doesn’t devolve with time.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that was likely polyp bailout from the shipping and handling of the coral, and not spawning. Would explain also why its not opening in your tank for so long. I keep a few NPS corals myself the hardest of which being s blueberry gorgonian
No it's Planulae, there's no doubt about that for sure. But the build up of spawning was already in process, the handling inhibited the release.

Hi. what are you doing to make your gonioporas so open? these are difficult corals, each goniopora is different and they grumble for seemingly no reason. For example, I have a blue Goniopora that stopped opening during the day and slightly protrudes polyps at night. He doesn't open them, he just slides them out for 5 mm ( 0,20 of inch ). I'm very motivated to do the right thing to help them . But i really dont know what to do. I have already raised the lamp 40 cm (16 inch) above tank . My lamp is ATI straton Flex- have 300 par -this result came out during the measurement . My aquarium is shallow 35 cm (14 inch) high .
I had many issue with bacteria infection on gioniopora unfortunately. Goniopora doesn't required a lot of light, 300 ppfd is way too high in my opinion, I think somewhere around 100 to 200 in our aquarium is ideal. They love smooth turbulent flow too. It's a coral that I feed usually every week, sometimes 2.
@@AquaSplendor what did you do to cure them? was it a brown jelly disease? If yes, I know a good medicine that helped mine LPS corals .these two antibiotics will help with most if not all bacterial diseases. I mixed amoxicillin 500 mg with ciprofloxacin 500 mg in 100 ml of RoDi water. I dosed 2 ml for 150 liter a day for 5 days . You can I turned off uv light , it's important because UV radiation causes bacteria to multiply. For this reason, we should not expose ourselves to the sun when we are taking antibiotics. You can repeat the treatment if the condition improves but worsens again. Both of these antibiotics work great, not only do they help kill the anaerobic bacteria that cause disease, but they also support other bacteria (the aerobic ones). So you shouldn't feel any negative effects of using such a treatment. I mean, not you, but your tank :). After the entire treatment, you don't have to use coal, there's no need. If you are worried, I would do a change or two. This treatment helped me, after 24 hours with euphilia was 80% beter , after 3 days there was no trace of the disease.

I just got an 80L aquarium with a build in back sump filter like that. It will be Fresh water with Neocaridina shrimps that dont like too much rotation. How many Litres per hour should be the pump? Acording to external filters we usually use 3-5 times L/H but on this case that the pump is already inside the aquarium and dont need to lift the water 1meter up I guess 5x times is more than enough? I have some 400L/h water pumps sitting from a previous project.
Not putting numbers. What matter is 1) don't get shrimps get suck up. 2) Avoid full blast with return pump, which is hard to do anyway.
@@AquaSplendor Τhe input is well designed with small holes and prefilter spongue. The output will be a long spraybar.
Transparant net I find much more practical, you simply don't see as much dirt and, above all, salt that accumulates over time. However, I wouldn't buy this cover again. It's a waste of time , and the effect will never be the same as with octo lid, etc. And with Red sea, you really have to work hard to make room for wavemaker cables. cutting the corners is not enough, unfortunately. you have to experiment, even with the Dremel I have you won't be able to do much, because - the more corners you cut out, the more you round them, the more you weaken the corner.not nice
They sells some L shape to accommodate bigger cable management. Currently using this again on another project.
@@AquaSplendor I know I know, I have it. But. I can't use it because it's to big opening . and it's only for one cable each side of tank
What wattage would you recommend for a 25 gal tank. 95 Ltres.
Following the recommendation of the manufacture, I think they are spot on. 150-100w
Too bad the narrator did not include UNITS when doing his math.
Yes, this is my biggest fear, I also turn off all flow during feeding. Even though I usually put a note in a prominant place as an extra reminder, I know it will get me one day.......
